here is the latest on "candles" #2
it's been over five years since i blogged about what candles i've been burning. shortly after that post i started making my own candles, so many and so often that i was able to start giving them away to friends and coworkers. and then five years after that post, i launched bugs rock to sell them.
blah blah blah, this is all to say that candle-making replaced candle-collecting. when you have a bunch of candles already it's hard to justify getting more. when my first launch went better than i had expected, i decided to celebrate by splurging on a few candles by other people that i've had on my wishlist for a very long time.
here are the candles i got. i went into this spree with a $150 budget and spent a total of $140.44 (prices include shipping to nj and sales tax). i brought them all to an outdoor patio to unbox with my pal lisa, and then took over a month to photograph them and finish writing this post.
vacation candles - ball boy scented candle
i've known about pool.fm for years, before they branched out into the vacation brand and made sunscreen i unfortunately cannot use because of a coconut allergy. a few years ago they did a collaboration with prince (the sporting goods company) and among the products was a scented candle with notes of tennis balls, sunscreen, and...cucumber sandwiches. i had to have it, now i do, and let me tell you: they NAILED the fragrance. i really love the fragrance and glass jar, and i had a blast photographing it. this is one of my all-time favorites.

harlem candle company - deux amours and dream scented candles
i came across this brand watching luxury candle reviews. i heard nothing but positive things and they sell 4oz tins - so i was able to fit more than one of their scented candles in my budget this round. i have to admit, i forget what deux amors smelled like because lisa loved it so i gave it to her immediately. i came for dream, an elevated lavender fragrance. i wanted this to be my desk candle, but its hot throw - the best i've ever experienced - is so rich that it fills quite a large room and i can't keep so close to me.

scandles - scented egg candle 6-pack carton
one of the most popular non-jar candles on the market are photorealistic fruits and vegetables, and that's kind of scandles' main deal. while a normal person would pick one of their beautiful scented fruits, i chose eggs because they came in a carton - that's fun! everyone who has come to my place in the past month has gone home with an egg. the cold throw smells just like five spice, which i love in my food but not so much in my air - fortunately, the hot throw gives off a nice, light vanilla and cinnamon fragrance instead. i love that they included a free tomato candle, and i will probably give it away since i've been up to my tits in tomato candles lately.
- listing: egg candles - 6-pack box
- cost: $50.90 total, the mini tomato ($18 value) was added for free
- what i'd get next: chili pepper candle
