weekly retro: the one where i became a walking weather stick
this week was one of those week where i made a point to not do much outside of my scheduled obligations, so to give my body a rest. my knees were SCREAMING in a voice i never heard before, but joint pain is a pretty common symptom of hashimotos. this is the first week in 7 months where i did not go to the gym!
i know that past me would feel bad about that, breaking some kind of fitness streak, but i did go to aerial twice this week - i've found that yoga mixed with pulling up my body weight in silks is far more nutritious for my joints than the treadmill is.
i did a ton of walking around brooklyn on wednesday to enjoy the nice weather and stop by nyu, where jamie and i were asked to host a robot karaoke show for techkids unlimited. it was by far one of my favorite shows we've done, both because of the audience and the fact that i was home by 8pm. my joints were the opposite of happy, but every other part of me was buzzing.
i stopped eating edibles a few weeks ago - something i do quarterly to cleanse myself for the new season and keep small the amount of thc i need to start questioning the physics of the moon. my dreams have been vivid and i can tell i've been tossing and turning less, as pumagreg has become so much more cuddlier.
one of my favorite ways to end my work week on thursday nights is to clean and organize my entire space, and i think i've finally got a setup that keeps me efficient yet creative. i'm pretty much done with inventory for the store, now it's just timing the launch around scheduled obligations during this busy spring season. andy has some trips coming up, as do i.
nothing will compare to the three months we had to spend apart during the 2020 quarantine, but the idea of being away from each other for several days at a time has me like...damn it's going to be boring! we've really been enjoying walking to the park and playing radio. while he's gone i'll probably declutter my closet, do some product photography for the store, and maybe question the physics of the moon.
the flowers in the park and in my neighbors yards are really putting in work. i spent saturday afternoon at my pal lisa's place, and her garden is also looking very lush and green with flowers soon to come - although squirrels seemed to have eaten all her bulbs. it's her first year at this place and she's doing such a great job with the space, despite the horny, hungry squirrels.
after the huge rainstorm yesterday - which happened abruptly and merely 5 minutes after we went for a walk - my knees stopped hurting. perhaps i'm just a walking weather stick. i will go back to the gym this week, but still take it easy.
things i enjoyed this week
- the beths dropped a new song + video today. summer is upon us.
- as i said, we really enjoyed doing robot karaoke for techkids unlimited, so huge shouts out to the staff and kids!
- one of my favorite stationery stores is yoseka stationery in brooklyn - i remember back when they were in sunnyside queens! they've been posting great day in the life vlogs recently and i have probably bought a total of 50 cigarette pencils from them.
this week i want to use my free time to get into activities i've been holding off on or forgot i loved. i may ask lisa to borrow her garden for a candle photoshoot. and maybe instead of pondering what would happen if the moon decided it didn't want to stay up in the sky, i'll turn my air compressor on and do some airbrushing - it's been awhile!
