weekly retro #47: the one i almost forgot because what day is it even
this is the hardest time of the year to keep track of the days. even when i wasn't making my own schedule, these last several days of december are special and chaotic and slow all at once for so many people. but as the clock struck 8:25pm i shot up from my horizontal position on the couch, watching youtube on my phone, and exclaimed "holy shit, it's sunday, i need to write my retro!" happy sunday, let's rock.
the week started with getting an aerial yoga session in after closing out my last ceramics session of the year. i had a piece to glaze, a few to pick up...including my clock which i am so impressed with myself about. i can't wait to get back to the studio in a couple of weeks, which is when i'll be able to get my final piece and do a proper blog about all the things i made this first semester.

andy got a gaming steering wheel and i've spent a significant portion of this week stoned and driving hitchhikers around. it's like crazy taxi but more chill. i still do not want to ever own a car or get a drivers license, the simulation is enough for me.
as usual, christmas was chill. we played driving games and just enjoyed the thursday cosplaying as a sunday. i cooked some casseroles that i knew would reheat well and get us through the incoming snowstorm.
my dad's second wife, who snuck onto earth from the depths hell in the early 60s, used to make these cheddar broccoli bakes that were really good - suspiciously good, coming from her. she told me it was a secret recipe and that she'd never tell me it because i wasn't her "real daughter" (a blessing for me) but i knew that red goblin got the recipe from a mayonnaise label. to this day i make my own variation twice a year!
anyway, i got to stay cozy and inside during the snow. i did a lot of writing, drew references for some upcoming paintings, updated my personal site as well as some older projects i think i want to revive, and worked on goals i have for the new year.
i also got into a couple of fights with pumagreg, who knows he's not supposed to be going into that closet but he also knows that i will give him treats anyway because i'm a big sucker for the little guy.
things i enjoyed this week
- free laundry? i don't know why the machines in our building launderette were set to free all week, but that was a nice surprise. i mean, unless you're my building coming to collect, in which case i didn't do any laundry this week what the fuck are you even talking about.
- the game we've been playing with the game wheel is motor town which is super fun, but what i was really surprised to discover was the ecosystem of real online radio stations made for simulator games like simulator radio.
- this weekend i enjoyed reading the outsiders which i had never read before, and i've not yet seen the movie. also, the broadway show won best musical last year, which i just learned and am shocked that i missed? i need to get back in touch with broadway!
thanks for reading my last weekly retro of 2025, see you next year :)
