weekly retro #36: following pumagreg's lead during the nor'easter

it's sunday evening and i shot up after nearly spending all day horizontal on the couch and realized - i need to write a retro! it's kind of incredible that i've made it to week 36, let alone remember that it was sunday. let's rock.

spooky season is upon us and what's spookier than a nor'easter, besides all the news and weather sites making sure we expect to get our asses rocked by it - using words like batter? lashing?? nj dot com, are we okay???

pumagreg, our black cat, stretched out on the floor, dramatically, of my home office area

meanwhile i'm feeling like pumagreg.

it's because i've had a lot of context-switching to do this past week. i had to finish putting together, and then launching, the new scary candle collection - out now btw ๐ŸŒ and i've got some light traveling coming up this week for some consulting work which i've been working hard to prep for over the past few days. i've also been continuing to visit and help my dad, who is still in the hospital. it's hard to believe that an entire month has gone by since our entire family dynamic and his mobility turned upside down.

screenshot of my livestream where i'm walking folks through the nj transit commuter rail map and me and the chat are griping about disorganization and poor comms of nj transit

i streamed for the first time in over a month because i just needed to reconnect with civilization. it's truly something i lose the comfort of doing if i don't do it consistently, talking at a camera. but it was nice to reconnect with pals in the chat. i have been on the move a lot but not for social reasons, and i have to remind myself to intentionally connect with friends. i imagine that's something a lot of us are still figuring out since the pandemic started.

pumagreg portrait, where he's posing all cozy in bed

after i publish this, i'm going to pack for a small work trip, shower, and then do what pumagreg does best: lay in bed in andy's spot for the next few hours. here's hoping that nj dot com is just sensationalizing and that everyone remains safe and do not lose any halloween decorations in this storm.

things i enjoyed this week

  • andy and i finished blippo+ last night which we both really enjoyed. it was published by panic, who made my code editor of choice - which happens to be on sale for the next couple of days it looks like!
  • speaking of nova, i updated the bugs rock "about" page to list all my suppliers and tools that i use for my business and art.
  • my time timer has really come through for me this week with all the context switching and tasks i needed to get through this week.

tomorrow morning i head out of town by way of train and i need everyone of you to send DRY COMMUTE energy my way, ok, love you, thank you!!

xoxo jenn
