weekly retro: blog birthdays, blood and buds
i'm coming to you and this retro with one vial less of blood and having been up since the crack of dawn to have said vial taken. this kicks off the bi-annual celebration of seeing if my thyroid has finally joined me on the quest to be hotter and smarter or not.
over the weekend was the 5-year anniversary of this blog. i spent quite a bit of time updating the look of the site and migrating it over to d'ocean. that's a referral link, by the way, as i've been a customer since october of 2013. i also moved over jennschiffer.com and bugs rock. i spent a lot of hours on the computer last week is what i'm trying to say.
time on the computer means less time in the chandlery. fortunately, i have the first collection complete for launch and all that's left is finishing up building the store site. if my bloodwork comes back with favorable results and no more surprised are dropped on my lap, i'll be able to start selling my small wax children next week.
i made it to the gym for a treadmill walk twice this week, and also started going to the mixed level aerial yoga class that had often conflicted with my schedule. the instructor is jacked and her class is very plank and push-up heavy, which i love to hate. my body was sore and i can't wait to go back.
the sun came out finally so i got to walk around a lot off the treadmill. i call these chickens "my sisters in christ" and i was told they have an instagram but searching just leads me to restaurants nearby that have chicken on the menu. i did find this very charming video of them from a couple years ago, though. anyway, i definitely need to buy new walking shoes as the ones i've been wearing are past their expiration date.
i know a lot more about computers than i do athletic sneakers - in soccer and field hockey we wore cleats. i probably know more about flowers than i do athletic sneakers. i believe the ones above are french roses and they live behind our favorite coffee shop.
and i think these are lobelia and...petunias? am i becoming a plant watcher, which is like a bird watcher but instead of birds i'm watching plants?
things i enjoyed this week
- plant watching, which is like bird watching but instead of birds i'm watching plants
- omg so i knew potch was doing this developer game show but i didn't know it was vs. tru. they are both so funny, and the production is really good!
- my bud jim has 54 watch dioramas on display in case you happen to be in the brentwood, maryland area through mid-august. if you won't be, peruse his wonderful, artsy blog.
by the way, i'm streaming on youtube again, mostly going over my glitch dashboard right now, but i've been enjoying going through old projects and shootin' the shit with everyone in the chat. today i go on at 3pm eastern, yee-haw.
xoxo jenn
