weekly retro: fake teeth, real busy
my week started with getting up early to go to the dentist and get a crown removed and the cavity under it taken care of. it was long, painful and very expensive! next week i get the permanent crown put in.
this is the photo i sent andy to show him that i survived. notice my pupils are tiny, so not to let what little was left of my soul after the procedure escape. i wanted to go back to bed and rot for 24 hours but i actually had to go to the city that night.
later that night we hosted robot karaoke at wonderville. we had a pretty good turnout, especially for a night where there was a lot of flash flood activity in the city and jersey. by the time i got home my mouth was killing me lol.
we also hosted a show on thursday, at aux karaoke box - a true, secular karaoke bar. we saw family, friends, and even some folks who discovered us at our wonderville show. i made stickers for this one.
these lillies are insane. i can't believe these exist on earth.
i tie-dyed our king gizzard couch tour shirts because neither of us really wear solid cream or white shirts ever. my shirt is purple, andy's is gray.
these are the supplies i used. rit's website has all sorts of tutorials, i followed their spiral tie-dye one.
andy recently bought a block of halloumi - one of those "just in case we want it one night" buys. well, saturday night i wanted it.
i made this lemon orzo with asparagus and halloumi recipe. it was a bit bland, probably because i'm usually very shy about using salt when halloumi is involved.
while buying a watch battery, i figured i'd get a battery for another watch i own that was given to me after my grandma died. this is the first time the watch has glowed since 2003. unfortunately, the time part doesn't work, but i don't recall if it ever did.
on the way home from the gym and coffee with andy today, i noticed a neighbor had put out these vibrant coneflowers. i had to share!
things i enjoyed this week
- i don't use amazon or walmart, so often end up buying things from all different kinds of smaller retailers like battery mart, which i got my watch batteries from at a better price than if i released the ones at duane reade from battery jail.
- i made a rubber band ball from the bands i didn't use while tie-dyeing those shirts. i never made one before and now i have one, yee-haw.
- i've been using pl@ntnet for identifying the local flowers. it's been pretty reliable so far!
i'm looking forward to a much quieter show-free week this week. i'm also manifesting my dental insurance covering the crown 🕯️🤲
